The Stafford London is rich in history, from the 17th Century to the present day, celebrating its centenary in 2012. If walls could talk, The Stafford Hotel have many a brilliant story to tell.

During World War II, the hotel served as a club for American and Canadian officers positioned overseas. They sought refuge in the iconic Wine Cellars, which were also used as air raid shelters during this time.

If you are lucky enough to visit for a tour, you’ll find an authentic collection of items from the war housed in a miniature museum, adding further charm to this much-loved hotel.

The American Bar at The Stafford London is one of the longest surviving American bars in London. The bar’s look and feel takes inspiration from the great tradition of the American cocktail bars in London and Paris in the 1920s and 30s. At The American Bar, you will find truly excellent classic and signature cocktails, overseen by the popular Bar Director, Benoit Provost. If you’re stopping by for food, you can enjoy many Mediterranean inspired dishes, curated by the talented Culinary Director, Ben Tish.

For cigar lovers, The American Bar offers a fine selection of cigars that can be enjoyed alongside a favourite tipple. The private and picturesque cobbled courtyard is a perfect place enjoying the sunshine, and also for al fresco events. If you’re looking to throw a memorable drinks soirée in beautiful St James’s, the courtyard is available for semi-private hire.
